It’s the time of the year again, a chance for you (Yes, YOU!) to polish the skills you’ve learned so far in Toastmasters and show them to the world! (or perhaps, just PD Toastmasters and other clubs in the region). What is that time, you may ask?

It’s time for PD Toastmasters’ Humorous Speech and Evaluation Contest!

Details of the contest:-

Date: 23rd August 2011, Tuesday

Time: 7:45pm

Venue: Sg. Ujong Club , Seremban

So it will be just like our usual meetings, except, even better! Contesting is open to all members of PD Toastmasters.

If you are not contesting, be a role player for this event as it meets the requirement of Project 6 of your CL Manual, i.e. Help organize a club speech contest. As contests do not frequently occur, this is a great opportunity for you to be one step closer in achieving your CL title!

Joint Club Officers Traning (COT 1)

Toastmasters Leadership Institute (TLI) conducted Club Officers training on 9 July 2011, the same day as 'The BERSIH Rally'. Amasingly the turnout was good despite many roadblocks at every entry into the city. It was a Joint Club Officers Training for Division B & C and was held in Taylor's University, Lakeside Campus, Sunway. From the point of registration, I could see the traffic at a standstill, roadblock just yards before the toll plaza into Sunway.

At the registration are from left: Hong Soon Leong (AG C7), Nancy Liew (AG B5) both are the organising chairman. G. Sivalingam, TLI Chairman, Shirley Bak Div treasurer doubling up the task in the registration counter and Rosa Phua (AG C6).

After the plenary session by Sue Chan the District 51 Governor Elect, the TLI break-up into individual training session according to the Club Officer's duty:

The"President" session was conducted by Lee Wei Seong Div B and Yvonne Leong AG C1. Look closer and you can find President Kay Ku was very attentive.

The VPE session was conducted by Lee Meng Tze AG C2 and Lim Thian Seng AG B2. Don't have to look hard, our VPE was not available on that day.

The VPM session was conducted by Burney Choo AG B3 and Bushra Algiffri AG C3.

The VPPR session was conducted by Julian GanBurney Choo AG B3 and Sarah Abadi AG C5.

The Secretary session was conducted by Teoh Chun Ming District 51 Assistant Secretary and Danny Bong AG C4. Can you see our Kenneth Gong our Secretary?

Treasurer session was conducted by Henry Fu from Div B and Rosa Phua AG C6. Cameraman came after we had finished the session and all the treasurers were already on R&R below.

SAA session was conducted by Lim Hui Shan from Div B and Robert Ram IP AG C2.

At plenary session 2 after the break and you can see that PD Toastmasters Club has made half of the DCP goal on that day.

End of the TLI, club officers has many questions and the District 51 officers were there to answer... TLI chairman Sivalingam, LGET Ramdas Nair, Sue Chan District 51 Governor and LGM Kiang Faang Pyng.

The TLI ended with the closing address from Shel Ling Div C Governor. There next TLI or Club Officers Training would be on 17 December 2011.

Joint Installation on 30th July 2011

Our club had its Joint Installation with 3 other Clubs at Tiara Golf Resort in Malacca on 30th July 2011. The other three clubs were Malacca TMC, Malacca Mandarin TMC and Famosa TMC.
The venue was good and the crowd was there, a total of 20 tables. Captured below are some photos of that memorable Installation dinner.
